Project Overview

The "Simulador de Aposentadoria Simplificado (Simplified Retirement Simulator)" project is an innovative initiative designed to provide users with a personalized financial planning tool. It was conceived with the vision to deeply explore and understand individual financial needs, guiding them on their journey towards financial freedom.

My Role

As the solo UX/UI designer, I was tasked with leading the design process, from initial research to prototyping, ensuring the tool reflected users' needs and expectations.

Business Objectives

  • Deep Relationship: Forge an emotional bond with users, making the tool an extension of their financial aspirations.
  • Personalized Understanding: Provide simulations and guidance based on specific user information.
  • Transparency and Trust: Ensure user data security and confidentiality, delivering accurate and reliable results.

Goal

To develop a platform that not only simulates retirements but also educates and guides users on best financial practices, enabling them to make informed decisions and achieve their financial goals.

Challenges

  • Repositioning: The need to reposition the term "GPS" due to confusion with geolocation tools.
  • User Experience: Craft an intuitive and simplified interface catering to a broad spectrum of users, regardless of their familiarity with finances.
  • Continuous Analysis: Continuously monitor and analyze user behavior to adapt and enhance the tool.

Usability Testing, Findings & Iterations

During development, we conducted usability tests to validate the design and functionality of the tool. Through these tests, we identified areas for improvement and refined the interface to enhance the user experience.

Findings

  • Naming Challenge: The term "GPS" caused confusion, necessitating a repositioning approach.
  • Perceived Complexity: Users expressed concerns about the initial complexity of the tool, highlighting the need for a simplified interface.
  • Customization: There was a strong demand for a more personalized experience, with simulations and recommendations tailored to individual user needs.

“I struggled to input my data correctly. The simulator made me too many questions and I felt lost.”

UI Design & Prototype

Based on the usability test feedback and identified needs, we developed a simplified and intuitive interface design. The resulting prototype offers a user-centric experience, with personalized features to assist users in their financial journey.
